Despite the greatest cryptocurrency heist in history with an estimated impact of $6.3 billion lost by the Binance cryptocurrency exchange, Bitcoin continues to operate safely and as usual.
A cryptocurrency exchange is a company separate from Bitcoin, with its own security practices.
This incident isn’t Binance’s first, and it isn’t alone. Exchanges generally aren’t considered safe for long-term crypto storage. People who leave their funds there do so at their own risk — and many have learned that the hard way.
