OK Bitcoin Kelowna welcomes Adam O’Brien, founder of Bitcoin Well, to sit down with Igor Espanhol Manuel for a fireside chat about Bitcoin adoption in sub-Saharan Africa.
Igor has first-hand experience with Bitcoin circular economies in Mozambique, Malawi, and Kenya, where people earn, spend, and save in Bitcoin as part of daily life. Many people in these countries don’t have access to a bank account. For them, Bitcoin isn’t a speculative asset. It’s a practical way to store value, get paid, and send money.
Adam and Igor will talk about:
- What a Bitcoin circular economy looks like on the ground
- Why Bitcoin is gaining traction where traditional banking falls short
- What has worked, what hasn’t, and what’s still being figured out
- What we in the Okanagan can learn from it
- Whether you’re new to Bitcoin or have been around for years, this is a rare chance to hear a real-world perspective you won’t find in headlines.
Format:
6:00pm Networking, Dinner, & Drinks
6:30pm Fireside chat with Adam and Igor
Q&A and open discussion
Please note: the fireside chat will be filmed. If you’d prefer not to appear on camera, let us know when you arrive and we’ll seat you out of frame.
All are welcome. Bring your questions.
