The Space Denver – From Mining to Megawatts: Flexible Loads and Regulatory Shifts for Bitcoin and AI Data Centers

The Space Denver - From Mining to Megawatts

Join The Space Denver for “From Mining to Megawatts: Flexible Loads and Regulatory Shifts for Bitcoin and AI Data Centers”, an evening fireside chat with Angela Chen and Shanon Squires.

As Bitcoin mining operations and AI data centers scale rapidly—particularly in Texas—they are reshaping how power grids are planned, regulated, and operated within ERCOT. Once considered niche, large compute loads are now central to discussions around grid reliability, transmission planning, and clean energy deployment. Increasingly, developers are exploring flexible operations and colocation with generation to better align with system needs.

This discussion will examine how Bitcoin and AI data centers are evolving from opportunistic power consumers into sophisticated grid participants. Topics include load flexibility, siting and interconnection challenges, the role of flexible compute in grid reliability, and how recent regulatory developments—most notably Texas Senate Bill 6 and the evolving Large Load Interconnection Study (LLIS) process—are redefining pathways to power for crypto and AI infrastructure.

A light reception will follow. Food and drinks are provided.
