Designed to mark one of the most legendary moments in Bitcoin history, the event goes beyond celebration—offering meaningful conversation, community connection, and a showcase of real-world Bitcoin use. With its ambitious scale and curated program, this is shaping up to be the most exciting Bitcoin Pizza Day celebration the UK has ever seen.
Each year, May 22 marks the anniversary of the day in 2010 when Laszlo Hanyecz paid 10,000 BTC for two pizzas in the first Bitcoin transaction. The day has become legendary, first because it was the first commercial use of bitcoins, but more so because of Bitcoin’s worth in the following years.
The event is being held at the historic Guildhall, a medieval Grade 1 listed building situated in the heart of Bury St Edmunds. The building is one of the oldest civil buildings in the country, with records going back as far as the 1100’s. Find out more here.
