Join Bitcoin Sydney and the Libertarian party of NSW on Saturday, April 18th for a special combined event where the two sides will attempt to settle the question of which is the superior monetary standard: Gold or Bitcoin.
Whilst gold advocates and Bitcoin advocates are in agreement with regard to the problems with fiat currency and the necessity of returning to a system based on sound, honest money, the best standard upon which to base such a system saw a new challenger, with the launch of Bitcoin in 2008. Since then, debates on this topic have yielded many interesting insights about the nature of money itself as well as the respective merits and drawbacks of each solution.
At this event, Bitcoin Sydney will be joining with the Libertarian party of NSW who have fielded industry experienced and passionate gold advocate Vinay Kolhatkar to go head to head with Bitcoin Sydney host and co-founder John Pratt in what is sure to be an entertaining and informative contest of ideas.
🌏SPEAKERS:
Vinay Kolhatkar
Vinay is a freelance journalist, novelist, screenwriter, and finance professional. He is a columnist and editor at The Savvy Street, which he founded. He has published two acclaimed novels in the “Literary Thriller” genre and a TV pilot screenplay. He also co-authored Media Wars: The Battle to Shape Our Minds. In the field of finance, he has a wide-ranging experience in raising funds across the entire capital spectrum: listed and private equity, mezzanine finance, and senior notes & bank debt. He’s highly articulate, with excellent skills in contract negotiation and relationship-building, plus a strong underpinning in finance theory and risk management.
John Pratt
JP has been studying Bitcoin for 12 years and from 2018, co-founded and hosts Bitcoin Sydney, an educational and social group focused on helping existing Bitcoiners and general public understand and get involved in this burgeoning ecosystem. As well as being an international Bitcoin conference speaker, he also presents talks to other community groups on the necessity of owning Bitcoin.
His other topics of interest include Bitcoin Game Theory, Bitcoin as sound money/savings tech, Bitcoin satellite connected nodes (first to run one in Aus), why Bitcoin is the only blockchain that matters, and Bitcoin history.

For this event, Bitcoin Sydney will be in the upstairs level of the Firehouse Hotel in North Sydney. This is not their usual event venue as this is a combined event with the Libertarian Party.
